is there an option to save the source of the clipped text with it? I am not finding it.

When a new latest clip is created, ClipClip tries to detect a title of window/application where this clip was copied.
If a clip source is detected, it is added to this clip. Latest clips keep their sources during ClipClip session.
Only latest clips can have their source data. After ClipClip is relaunched, all sources are lost. To avoid that, you can save these sources. You can get the clip source using its context menu command "Copy clip source".
