Windows button hotkeys

Is it possible to use the Windows key in shortcut combinations? I am used to calling my current clipboard manager with Win + Q and I can't seem to be able to use that combination with ClipClip.

Hello,

What exactly do you mean in this message "...to calling my current clipboard manager"?

If you want to open the main window of the ClipClip app using some key combination, you will have to adjust this scenario yourself.
To do this, create a ClipClip shortcut on the desktop and add a key combination to open the ClipClip app.
Here is a topic that describes how to do this:
https://www.cnet.com/tech/computing/open-programs-with-keyboard-shortcuts-in-windows-10

If you want to open the Paste Menu (window with clips to select a clip to paste it) by pressing other hotkeys (the default key combination is CTRL+SHIFT+V), change the default hotkeys in the Configuration window on the "Hotkeys" tab for the "Show the paste menu" option.

NOTE: The "Win+Q" key combination is already used in Windows OS to open the "Cortana in text mode" or can be used in other applications. To avoid conflicts, use another key combination for your needs.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I meant the paste menu. I was not able to change it to Win + Q, which is why I created this thread. I'm using Windows 7, so the key combination is not used by the OS.

Hello,

Here are described necessary steps that you have to take to change the hotkeys in the ClipClip app.
- Run the ClipClip app;
- Open the Configuration window;
- Open the "Hotkeys" tab;
- Insert the mouse pointer into the text field of the "Show the paste menu";
- Press a key combination you want to use for this option. For example, I will press CTRL+Q;
NOTE: If a new key combination is displayed for this option, this means that it can be registered in Windows OS for the ClipClip app.
Otherwise, try to set another key combination.
- Press the "Save" button to save new changes;
- Press the newly created CTRL+Q key combination to open the Paste Menu.
That's all.

Please visit this link on the video that demonstrates all these steps.

I appreciate the effort, but I know how to change the hotkey... The problem is, and the reason I created this thread, that I can't set it to what I want, which is win + q. I can use that combination in other clipboard managers  but not ClipClip. So if there's no way to use that combination just say so. Even a config file modification would be a good solution for me.

Hello,

Please be cautious when you read our detailed messages)

You wrote:
"...So if there's no way to use that combination just say so."
...
Our previous message contains such text:
"NOTE: If a new key combination is displayed for this option, this means that it can be registered in Windows OS for the ClipClip app.
Otherwise, try to set another key combination."
...
This means that when you pressed our favorite "Win+Q" key combination and this combination is not displayed for this option (cannot be inserted in this text field), this means that it cannot be registered in Windows OS for the ClipClip app.

In our opinion, the "Win+Q" key combination is already used in your Windows OS by any installed or internal app or service. Therefore, it cannot be registered for the ClipClip app in the Configuration window.
NOTE: Even if you were able to register this key combination for the ClipClip app for now, but another app uses this key combination as well, and that "another" application will be launched before the ClipClip app while Windows starts, the "Win+Q" key combination will not work for the ClipClip app because of key registration order.

I have tried a lot of combinations (most of which unused by the OS or applications) and it appears that no combination with the Win key can be used. That's a shame. I'm not sure why you didn't just say that straight away though. It would have saved us both time and explanation.

Anyway, have a good day.
