What does 'Files that will be loaded as saved clips' do?

Hello.

Thanks for making great app, it really helps me a lot.

In the Configuration window, I found 'Files that will be loaded as saved clips' dropdown menu in Content tab, but I have no idea what this is.

How this option works? For example, what happens, if I check .jpg box?

Actually, I've already checked some boxes and observed, but I haven't noticed any difference. And I also tried Googling but couldn't find anything about it.

Could you please explain about this setting?

Best regards.

Sometimes, me too)

Right.

When you copy something on the computer, the ClipClip app reacts to the 'copy' action and saves the data you copied. Each such saved object is considered a clip. All newly created clips are added to the "Latest Clips" folder. They are called 'latest clips' since they present the last data that was copied.
If the 'Remove all latest clips on program exit' option is disabled (its default state), the latest clips will be saved on the hard drive and loaded every launch of the ClipClip app.
If this option is enabled, all the latest clips will be removed while the ClipClip app is being exited.
NOTE: For security reasons, the latest clips are saved as encrypted files in this folder:
C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Vitzo\ClipClip\Latest Clips
You or any other user (another account) who uses your computer (including the administrator) cannot see the content of these clips even if he opens them in other applications (like Notepad, Paint, etc.).
NOTE: For more information, please review the 'Latest Clips' paragraph in this document:

If you mean the latest clips, these clips are created in the "C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Vitzo\ClipClip\Latest Clips" folder by the current ClipClip app - they cannot be copied (as encrypted files) in File Explorer to move them to another computer to the same folder since they are encrypted only for the current user on the current machine.
You can move them to any connected folder - in this case, these files can be used as clips on any other computer.
NOTE: The latest clips will be automatically deleted only if the 'Remove all latest clips on program exit' option is enabled or if there are some problems with their decryption.
NOTE: The saved clips never be deleted automatically - there is no code for this in the ClipClip app)

If you have any questions, please ask.

Hello.

Thanks for your kind explanation.

You said 'NOTE: The latest clips will be automatically deleted only if the 'Remove all latest clips on program exit' option is enabled or if there are some problems with their decryption'.

And of course, I already have disabled(unchecked) 'Remove all latest clips on program exit' option almost as soon as I installed it. but still the clips (on Latest Clips) that I copy from my PC are deleted automatically after restrating ClipClip.

For example, if I copy 'test.exe' file in the path D:\Download, then the clip 'D:\Download\test.exe' pops up on Latest Clips list, but exiting and restarting ClipClip, that clip disappears.

As I said before all the other types of clip remain after restating ClipClip. Only clips that are generate by copying files in my PC disappear when exiting ClipClip.

It looks like the ClipClip on my PC is not working properly. As a test, I tried runnung the program with admin previlege, but still the issue occured. Could you have any suggestion I can try?

Best regards.

Hello,

The ClipClip apps creates 6 types of clips according to available copied data:

TEXT - clip contains plain text (file extension - “*.txt”). The plain text represents only characters of readable material but not its graphical representation nor other objects (floating-point numbers, images, etc.).

CSV - clip contains delimited text that uses a comma to separate values (file extension - “*.csv”). Such clips can be created when you copy data from the grid in Excel, OpenOffice Calc, or other applications.

RTF - clip contains formatted text (Rich Text Format) and/or graphics (file extension - “*.rtf”).
RTF is the internal markup language that presents the formatted text with common formatting options, such as bold and italics. This format is used in Microsoft Word, WordPad, OpenOffice Writer, or other applications.

HTML - clip contains HTML markup (file extension - “*.html”). The HyperText Markup Language or HTML is the standard markup language for documents (webpages) designed to be displayed in a web browser.

IMAGE - clip contains an image or screenshot (file extension - “*.png”). An image is a visual representation of something. It is a picture that is created or copied and stored in electronic form.

FILE - clip contains absolute path(s) to file system resources - file paths of the files, folders, or other objects that were selected and copied in File Explorer.

From copied text data, the ClipClip app creates the latest clips that in fact are real files with “*.txt” file extensions on the hard drive.
As a result, if you move these latest clips into any connected folders, you will be able to use these clips as any other files on your computer - you can edit them in any other editor, rename them directly in File Explorer, etc.
So these files (with “*.txt” file extensions) will be loaded (as clips of TEXT type) to the ClipClip app every its launch.
In addition, directly in File Explorer, you can create (or copy to this folder) other text or images files that have other file extensions - for example, ".js", ".cs", ".php", ".json", ".jpeg", etc.
If you select these file extensions in the 'Files that will be loaded as saved clips' option (it contains all available additional file extensions), these files will be loaded in the ClipClip app, so you can use them as other TEXT clips.

The main idea of the clips, which contain your copied data, is that they are saved on the hard drive as standard Windows files. As a result, you can rename, edit, change, or delete clips(files) directly in File Explorer in a similar way as if you do that with other files. The internal clip editors have been implemented as very simple tools to edit clip content directly in the ClipClip app. Otherwise, you can create or edit clips more professionally in any other applications like Photoshop, Word, Notepad, etc.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not good at English. But using Google translator... I understand in the sense that the checkbox options let me use various type of files within ClipClip, when I place them in 'Saved Clips' folder. Is it right?

And would you mind if I ask one more question?

Copying dragged text or images on Internet generate clips in ClipClip, and these clips remain when even after exiting and restarting ClipClip.

However when I copy any files in my PC, they generate clips, but these clips disappear after restarting ClipClip.

Is this how it's supposed to work? If so, why these types of clips deleted automatically after restarting ClipClip?

Best regards.
